The Jersey climate is similar to that of southern England, although the weather is reliably warmer and sunnier. Between May and September, the climate on Jersey is at its most favourable and this is always the high season, when crowds of tourists head to the endless selection of sandy beaches to soak up the sun.

With plenty of fine sunny summer weather, the hottest days tend to fall in July and August, when temperatures can often exceed more than 25°C / 77°F. Even the winter climate on Jersey is relatively mild and average daytime temperatures in January, the coldest month, stay close to 9°C / 48°F. Jersey is well known for experiencing the most annual sunshine in the whole of the British Isles.

The winter climate tends to be the wettest time of the year on Jersey, although precipitation levels are far from excessive and December sees less than 100 mm / 3.9 inches. From February onwards the weather starts to show clear signs of spring and it is not unusual to experience to enjoy day-long winter sunshine and gorgeous blue skies. However, sea breezes can add a little chill around the coastline.

Winter frosts are infrequent and rarely harsh, meaning that Jersey is able to grow countless subtropical plants with ease. Many species of plants treated as annuals on the UK flower all through the winter on Jersey.

By the time that May arrives, the summer climate is just around the corner. Daylight hours are much longer, temperatures higher and visitor numbers increased. Even in July and August, there is still plenty of room on even the most popular of sandy beaches, such as those at St. Aubin's Bay, St. Brelade's Bay and St. Ouen's Bay, despite the hot weather and increased summer tourism levels.
